In 1920, the audiences were certainly impressed this handsome historical drama about Henry VIII's second wife. The sets and the costumes are all first rate. The story is quite dramatic and exciting. But the characters are boring and simplistic. Henry (Emil Jannings) comes across as a lecherous idiot, Anna (Henny Porten) has no personality whasoever, and the rest of the cast is downright embarassing.
