Bugsy Malone (1976) ***
Like "Terror Of Tiny Town" (1938), this is a cult film due to its unique High Concept idea related to casting - it's a gangster film, but all roles are played by young children.
Rocky (1976) ***
The first, Oscar-winning "Rocky" is still the best, with a stirring musical score, great performance by Sylvester Stallone and a touching story.
Family Plot (1976) ***
Small crooks interfere with big crooks in this ingeniously plotted thriller. Alfred Hitchcock's last picture.
Harlan County USA (1976) ***
An Oscar-winning documentary about a coal miners strike in eastern Kentucky. Interesting film to see, especially in light of the fact that Harlan County, presented in the film as a model of union activism and progressive idealism, in 2008 voted for John McCain over Barack Obama by a margin of 73% to 26%.

Breakfast: Table Top Dolly (1976) ****
A clever joke of a movie, with a camera slowly crashing food on a kitchen table. A Canadian experimental film, directed by Michael Snow.
Money Money Money (1976) ***
This might not be ABBA's best song, but it's definitely their best music video. Directed by Lasse Hallstrom.
Dear Phone (1976) **
Directed by Peter Greenaway. Vignettes about telephones. Clever little film, made on a shoestring budget.
The Street (1976) ****
An excellent adaptation of Mordecai Richler's short story about a young boy and his dying grandmother.
Taratata (1976) ***
Visually, this cartoon is clearly inspired by the paintings of Raoul Dufy. Thematically, it'a an allegory about the history of Canada, presented as a parade.
