A companion piece to "Dunkirk", showing what was happening on the English side of the Channel as Churchill become Prime Minister during Britain's darkest hour.
Battle Of The Sexes (2017) ***
Feminism, lesbianism and tennis. Excellent film about the famous tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) ***
Less impressive than the previous "Star Wars" films (except "Episode II", of course), but still a solid sci-fi space opera.
The Big Sick (2017) ***
A unique film that starts like a romantic comedy, turns into a disease-of-the-week melodrama and ends like a Bollywood family drama, only without any musical numbers. And it's all based on a true story.
The Villainess (2017) ***
Superb opening scene, and several other exciting action scenes (including a swordfight on racing motocycles in a tunnel) in this South Korean version of "Nikita" (1990).

Ava (2017) **
Ava's life is dictated by rules. Coming of age in Iran, she faces pressure to conform to the expectations of her parents, her school, and her friends. When Ava learns that her parents were once flagrant rule breakers themselves, she begins to rebel against the very foundations of her society. The film demonstrates how a culture of authority can force denial and detachment, particularly among young women during their formative yet vulnerable high school years.
