Hollywood On Trial (1976) ***
Fascinating documentary about congressional hearings during the McCarty era, which led to the blacklisting of those Hollywood writers, directors and actors, who refused to deny their Communist sympathies.
The Omen (1976) ***
Impressive horror film starring Gregory Peck. It picks up where "Rosemary's Baby" has left off. Jerry Goldsmith won an Oscar for best musical score over Bernard Herrmann (nominated for "Taxi Driver" and "Obsession").
Obsession (1976) ***
A rich man's wife is murdered by kidnappers. Years later, he meets a woman who looks exactly like her. Directed by Brian De Palma, with a script by Paul Schrader. A superb musical score by Bernard Herrmann (nominated for an Oscar).
Allegro Non Troppo (1976) ***
A poor man's "Fantasia", directed by Bruno Bozzetto, with music by Debussy, Ravel, Dvorak, Sibelius, Vivaldi and Stavinsky. Segments:

Bugsy Malone (1976) ***
Like "Terror Of Tiny Town" (1938), this is a cult film due to its unique High Concept idea related to casting - it's a gangster film, but all roles are played by young children.
Rocky (1976) ***
The first, Oscar-winning "Rocky" is still the best, with a stirring musical score, great performance by Sylvester Stallone and a touching story.
Family Plot (1976) ***
Small crooks interfere with big crooks in this ingeniously plotted thriller. Alfred Hitchcock's last picture.
Harlan County USA (1976) ***
An Oscar-winning documentary about a coal miners strike in eastern Kentucky. Interesting film to see, especially in light of the fact that Harlan County, presented in the film as a model of union activism and progressive idealism, in 2008 voted for John McCain over Barack Obama by a margin of 73% to 26%.
