Analogies: Studies In The Movement Of Time (1977) ****
A semi-abstract film with plenty of travelling shots. Set in a maze of almost empty corridors, it's described as a series of "studies in the movement of time". Directed by Peter Rose.
Mongoloid (1977) ***
An experimental music video with a terrific song and superb visuals. Bizarre images pulsating with frenetic energy. Directed by Bruce Conner.
Faut pas rêver (1977) ***
Quite a curiosity - a videoclip directed by Jean-Luc Godard. Needless to say, it's quite different from all the other music videos. It's a song by Patrick Juvet, « Faut pas rêver », composed par Jean-Michel Jarre.
Spaceborne (1977) *
Nice images from various space missions, but nothing deserving an Oscar nomination.
A Doonesbury Special (1977) ***
In the 1970's, the so-called “silent majority” fretted that their children were rejecting their values, and that the culture was leaving social conservatives behind. Yet in 1977, an Oscar-nominated cartoon revealed how the new breed of radicals celebrate Christmas, play football, worry about their kids, and feel alienated from a society that keeps moving forward, just when they’re in the mood to look back.
The Metamorphosis Of Mr Samsa (1977) *
One morning, a man wakes up as a huge cockroach. An adaptation of a Franz Kafka's story.
