Other great cartoons:

Potemkin (1925) *****

Sergei Eisenstein's masterpiece and one of the most influential films in the history of cinema.

The Gold Rush (1925) *****

Charlie is a gold prospector in Alaska. Plenty of gags and riotously funny situations. A great film.

The Big Parade (1925) ****

Excellent World War I drama starring John Gilbert.

Seven Chances (1925) ****

Buster has to marry a girl or loose his inheritance. Excellent comedy full of frantic chases. Remade as ''The Bachelor".

Master Of The House (1925) ***

Carl T. Dreyer's silent drama about a tyrannical husband.

Variety (1925) ***

Excellent German film about circus performers.

Ben Hur (1925) ***

Maciste all'inferno (1925) ***

She (1925) ***

The Phantom Of The Opera (1925) ***

A classic silent horror film about a mysterious man living in secret donjons under the Opera building in Paris.

Ways To Strength And Beauty (1925) ***

The Freshman (1925) ***

College comedy starring Harold Lloyd. Co-directed by Fred Newmeyer and Sam Taylor.

Go West (1925) ***

Buster Keaton in a parody of westerns. One of his weakest films, but still quite worthwhile.

Strike (1925) ***

Sergei Eisenstein's film debut. It's the story of police repression in tsarist Russia.

Orochi (1925) ***

Silent "chambara jidai-geki" about a persecuted ronin. Directed by Buntaro Futagawa.

Lady Windermere's Fan (1925) ***

Oscar Wilde's verbal wit is hard to translate in a silent film, but it's still a fine picture.

Little Annie Rooney (1925) ***

Mary Pickford is excellent in this gritty urban melodrama directed by William Beaudine.

The Merry Widow (1925) ***

Being a silent movie, Erich von Stroheim's film adaptation of the famous operetta isn't as musically entertaining as the 1934 version starring Maurice Chevalier and Jeannette MacDonald, but it more than makes up for this sole shortcoming in every other area (the performances, the psychological depth of the characters, the quality of the mise-en-scène, the sexual tension, etc.)

The Lost World (1925) ***

Before "Jurassic Park" (1993), there was "King King" (1933). But before "King Kong", there was "The Lost World", the original dinosaur picture.

The Perfect Clown (1925) ***

Entertaining feature comedy starring Larry Semon.

The Wizard Of Oz (1925) ***

Uneven, but often very interesting adaptation of the famous story. Directed by Larry Semon (who also plays the Scarecrow). Oliver Hardy plays the Tin Woodman.
