Sicario (2015) ***
"Traffic" meets "No Country For Old Men" meets "Heli" meets "Zero Dark Thirty" meets "Breaking Bad" in this drug dealers-meet-SWAT team-meet-CIA drama set on the Mexican border.
Cartel Land (2015) ***
Shocking documentary about vigilante groups taking up the arms to fight drug cartels in Mexico and in Arizona.
Les Cowboys (2015) ***
A French remake of "The Searchers" (1956), but set in the time of Muslim fundamentalism and terrorism.
Mustang (2015) ***
A Turkish film (set in Turkey, in Turkish, written and directed by a Turk) that somehow was submitted by France as a French candidate for a Foreign Film Oscar.
Irrational Man (2015) ***
Daring reworking of a theme Woody Allen has already tackled in "Crimes And Misdeameanors" (1989) and "Match Point" (2005), with not-so-subtle hints to his own scandal. In effect, the film depicts what Woody Allen would have liked to do to the judge who deprived him of his parental rights.
When Marnie Was There (2015) ***
Very slow moving in the first half, but stick with it, because it becomes very interesting (and very moving) in the second half.
