Idi Amin Dada (1974) ***
Uganda's notorious dictator, General Idi Amin Dada apparently wasn't very happy about the world's negative perceptions of him. So he invited French filmmaker Barbet Schroeder to come to his country and make an "Idi's a great guy" propaganda film. Since Amin had the final cut, the film's narrator didn't criticize him at all. He didn't have to. Amin just makes a complete fool of himself and doesn't even realize it. This is the most perfect character assassination in history - a self-immolation by a pompous and murderous thug too stupid to realize just how unbelievably ridiculous he is.
