The River (1937) ***

Excellent documentary about Mississippi River and its tributaries. It begins very poetically, but soon focuses on such topics as soil erosion, deforestation and flooding. The ending is more optimistic, detailing the initiatives undertaken by the Tennessee Valley Authority to build power plants and prevent floods. 30'.
