Hare-Breadth Hurry (1963) ***

At first it looks like a regular Road Runner cartoon (and an impressive one as well), but it turns out that Bugs Bunny is standing in for the bird. Very self-reflexive (Bugs explains to the audience: "actually I can't run this fast, I'm just imitating the Road Runner"). The best gag involves an extension pipe attached to Coyote's gun barrel. It's a very good hybrid, combining the verbal wit of Bugs with the stylistic integrity of the Road Runner cartoons.
