The Heckling Hare (1941) ****

A goofy dog (first seen in Avery's 1941's "The Crackpot Quail") chases Bugs Bunny and suffers greatly for his stupidity. The cartoon ends with both protagonists falling off a cliff and then applying the brakes and landing gently. The original ending had them falling off another cliff, but Warners' producer Leon Schlesinger stupidly objected to such a "tragic" conclusion and actually fired Tex Avery for trying to "kill" Bugs Bunny !
