A story of two small-time boxers (and good friends), who agree to fight each other as the opening card of the latest Mike Tyson bout in Vegas. They drive to Nevada, argue bitterly on the way, fight a good fight, and finally reconcile on their way back. It's very disturbing how the film first establishes the humanity of its protagonists, and then transforms them into savage beasts, who mercilessly beat each other's brains out in the boxing rink. Ce mélange d`un road-movie plutôt bavard et d`un drame sportif très violent, rejouira sûrement tous les amateurs du boxe. Woody Harrelson et Antonio Banderas y jouent deux boxeurs inconnus, Vince et Ceasar, engagés à la dernière minute pour un combat à Las Vegas. Accompagnés par Grace (Lolita Davidovich) - la blonde de Caesar et l`ancienne blonde de Vince - ils se rendent en Nevada en traversant le desert Mojave en voiture. Attention : La longue scène du combat (qui occupe le dernier tier du film) est filmée d`une manière extrêmement réaliste et brutale. Cette dernière réalisation de Ron Shelton (Bull Durham, Tin Cup) est donc une véritable symphonie du sang et de la sueur - assez excitante, mais aussi très choquante.
