The Watcher (2000) *

Directed by Joe Charbanic. With Keanu Reeves, James Spader and Marisa Tomei. A solid, if unspectacular thriller about a ruthless serial killer (Reeves) playing sadistic head games with a guilt-ridden cop (Spader). Before each new killing, the murderer sends a picture of his victim. The police has 24 hours to find her. This nice gimmick certainly makes the story very suspenseful, but it’s hardly a surprising and original film. And there are way too many helicopter shots. On a scale of one to Seven, this one gets a pass.
