The Popcorn Story (1950) ***

Although Art Babbitt was one of Walt Disney's finest animators (his achievements included the dancing mushrooms from the "Nutcracker Suite" segment of "Fantasia" and Goofy playing hide-and-seek with a piano in 1936's "Moving Day"), his work as a director was far less impressive. Though quite amusing and unusual, "The Popcorn Story" is probably UPA's most conventional cartoon.
