Broken Blossoms (1919) **

Overrated D.W.Griffith's melodrama about a pathetic waif (Lilian Gish), abused by her evil stepfather (Donald Grisp) and saved by a gentle Chinese immigrant (Richard Bartolomess). Unbearably sentimental.
