Bedazzled (2000) *
Directed by Harold Ramis. With Brendan Fraser, Elizabeth Hurley and Frances O’Connor. A remake of Dudley Moore’s 1967 comedy about a poor sap who sells his soul to the devil in exchange for seven wishes (unfortunately, "go to hell" isn’t one of them). It’s hard to believe the director of Groundhog Day could have made such a lame and unexciting film. Even Hurley and O’Connor (Kiss Or Kill) can’t save it from the hellfires of eternal damnation. The only bright spot is Fraser, especially when playing an obese Columbian drug lord who loves to hear himself talk in Spanish.
