Jack And The Beanstalk (1931) ***
The first of eight cartoon versions of the famous story about Jack and a giant. Later adaptations are: Ub Iwerks' "Jack And The Beanstalk" (1933), Friz Freleng's "Jack Wabbit And The Beanstalk" (1943), "Mickey And The Beanstalk" (the second half of Disney's feature "Fun And Fancy Free" from 1947), Chuck Jones' "Beanstalk Bunny" (1955), Freleng's (again) "Tweety And The Beanstalk" (1957), Disney's (again) "Jack And Old Mac" (1957) and finally "The House That Jack Built" (1969) from the National Film Board of Canada. In this version, from Max and Dave Fleischer, geese change into cars and cars into roller skates.
