Peace On Earth (1939) *****

A unique and exceptionally well crafted film, set in a near future. Following a horrible war that resulted in the total extermination of the human race, cute furry animals took over the world, turning it into a peaceful paradise. Bright, cartoony sequences featuring the cherubic animals are contrasted with dark, rotoscoped scenes of war. The results are stunning. A truly great film, nominated for an Oscar. It was remade in Cinemascope in 1955 as "Good Will To Men" and again nominated for an Oscar.
