Thugs With Dirty Mugs (1939) *****

A side-splitting parody of Warner Bros gangster films, ridiculing every convention of the genre and turning every plot cliche into a joke. The story concerns a certain Killer Diller, a ruthless bandit who robs banks and evades the police. Meanwhile, police detective Flanagan is tipped off by an audience member who has seen the picture before and the robber is caught. He gets a "long sentence" ("I've been a naughty boy") and has to write it many times on the blackboard.
