You Ought To Be In Pictures (1940) ****

A classic short that skillfully mixes live-action footage with the animated characters of Porky and Daffy. In the film, Daffy convinces his pal that he's wasting his talent in cartoons and encourages him to look for true fame and glory in the "real" live-action features. But maybe it's only his ploy to steal Porky's place as Warners' top animated star ? Ironically, the real-life history of the Warner Bros animation studio wasn't much different - Porky was being gradually relegated to supporting roles, while Daffy's fortunes were rising quickly.
