The Black Cat (1934) ***

Directed by Edgar G.Ulmer. A classy chiller from Universal starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. It's one of those films where doors can slide open one moment yet need to be pushed open the next.. and debate still rages whether it's a continuity error or a part of deliberately outlandish set design, where German Expressionism clashes violently with American Art Deco style.
